Mount Pleasant Community Development Corporation, Inc (commonly referred to as Mt. Pleasant CDC is a social service and community housing development organization with a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status from the IRS. We were organized in 1996 and incorporated in 1997 to provide needed services for the citizens of Northeast Louisiana. Our goal is to plant a few seeds, touch many lives and help people grow to their full potential.
Mt. Pleasant Community Development Corporation, Inc. is a non-profit housing organization located in Monroe ,Louisiana. The company was founded by Rev. J. Preston Stephens, Kenneth G. Jackson, and Rev. Welton M. Wiley and has been providing affordable housing solutions to the community since 1997, catering to the needs of low- to moderate-income individuals. Our services include rental counselling, HUD-certified housing counselling, credit counselling, budgeting, mortgage delinquency/foreclosure prevention, food pantry, VITA, and first-time homeowners’ workshops.
Our HUD-certified housing counselling service provides expert advice on housing-related issues. Our counsellors can help you navigate the complex world of housing finance and make informed decisions about your housing needs.
We offer no-cost counselling to first-time homeowners. Furthermore, our knowledgeable counsellors will walk you through the home-buying process, assisting you in understanding your options and making the right decisions.
We believe purchasing and retaining a home is vital to building strong communities. That's why we provide crucial information on housing-related services, including credit counselling.
Our experienced counsellors offer ongoing support to help our clients achieve their housing goals. Mt. Pleasant Community Development Corporation, Inc.’s credit counselling service can help you take control of your finances and improve your credit score.
Our trained counsellors will work with you to develop a personalized plan that will help you pay off your debts and get back on track financially.
Our food pantry service is dedicated to helping individuals and families in our community struggling with hunger and food shortages. We understand that food insecurity is a serious issue, and we strive to provide nutritious food options to those who need it the most on a daily basis.
In addition to our regular food distribution, we also make an annual donation of $1000 to our local food bank, which enables us to provide 50 pounds of food every month to ten senior citizens in our area. By working together, we can make a difference in the lives of those facing hunger and ensure that no one in our community goes without a meal.
We understand that taxes can be complicated and stressful, and we aim to make the process as easy as possible for our clients. We are proud to offer the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to qualified individuals who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
Our VITA sites are staffed by trained and certified volunteers to provide free, reliable, and trusted tax return preparation services that meet or exceed IRS standards.
Our resident support services provide assistance with various aspects of living in the community. At our organization, we understand that living in a community can present unique challenges. That's why we partner with property management companies to provide information to tenants through our Resident Support Services program.

Our team is composed of passionate individuals who work tirelessly to impact the community positively. We are led by our President/CEO Rev. Welton M. Wiley who is the surviving founder of this Community Housing Development Corporation (CHDO).
Supporting him is our Vice-President, Ruby French, who brings a wealth of knowledge in budgeting, fiscal planning, and human resources.
Our Board Chairperson, Eddie Beaver, oversees the strategic direction of our organization and provides invaluable guidance and support to our team.
